Quality is knowing, not hoping

We exist because a production manager deserves better information.

WEMO-techniek is a specialist manufacturer of PDI measurement and retention sampling systems for the animal feed and wood pellet industries. Founded in 1996, our systems run in production facilities across Europe and beyond.

But we do not exist because of our solutions. We exist because of the conviction that drives them: a production manager deserves to know whether his line is producing on specification while he can still act on that knowledge. Not hours later, when the batch is in storage. Not at the next shift handover. Now.

Every system we develop is an answer to the same question: where does uncertainty still exist between what your production line is doing and what your quality system knows about it?

It started with inside knowledge  and a frustration.

Sjaak Kempink knew the market from the inside. Working extensively with the Holmen tester, the airflow-based instrument that was the standard of its time, he saw the same pattern repeat itself: the same pellet, a different number, depending on who ran the test. The PDI measurements of the time varied by method, by sample, and by operator. Building a quality system that anyone could trust was impossible when the measurement itself was not consistent.

He developed his own tester independently in the years leading up to 2016, when WEMO adopted the methodology. Not a better version of what existed, but a different kind: designed from first principles around a single requirement. The result must be the same regardless of who runs the test.

In 2016, WEMO-techniek brought the Laboratory Kempink Tester to market. In 2018, the Kempink methodology came inline, combining more than twenty years of WEMO inline expertise with the precision of the Kempink method.

Experience guides. Data confirms.

Give your operators the certainty that matches their expertise.

Every WEMO system is built on one principle: a PDI result must mean the same thing regardless of who runs the test, which shift, or which production site.

The Kempink methodology is correlated to ASAE/ASABE S269.5 for animal feed and ISO 17831-1:2025 for wood pellets.

No conversion, no qualification, no gap between your data and your auditor’s expectation.

Since 2017, that methodology runs on the production line.

Real-time measurement puts the certainty of data in the hands of the people who know the process best.

The operator’s experience becomes the context. The data becomes the confirmation.

Our vision

Building the factory of tomorrow.
WEMO-techniek works on factories that become smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable. Real-time data and process knowledge, extended with artificial intelligence as a growth path, for less waste and a lower CO2 footprint. That is how we build the data-driven factory of the future, contributing to a more sustainable food chain for the next generation.

A better world for the next generation.

Why choose WEMO-techniek

Rooted in the industry

Since 1998 we have been developing automated quality control solutions for pellet production. We do not just supply equipment. We understand grinding, mixing, pelleting, cooling, and storage from the inside.

Built for your standards

Our solutions are designed to support GMP+-certified production environments and are aligned with GAFTA and ENplus A1. Every measurement is reproducible, traceable, and audit-ready.

R

Seamless integration

Our systems connect directly to your existing process control infrastructure via PLC and MES. Open architecture, minimal downtime during installation, and data integration via your dashboard for immediate insight into both product quality and machine performance.

Service you can rely on

Under Quality-as-a-Service, WEMO retains ownership of the hardware. We have a direct interest in keeping your systems running. Remote monitoring, periodic calibration, and dedicated service support are standard, not optional extras.

The research behind our systems

WEMO-techniek works alongside research institutions, knowledge centres, and industry organisations in the animal feed and wood pellet sectors. These connections keep our measurement methodology grounded in the practical and scientific realities of the industries we serve.

Feed Design Lab

Role and connection

Applied research and knowledge development in feed manufacturing technology. An important reference point for the practical validation of PDI measurement methodology in feed production contexts.

Feed Pilot (ILVO)

Role and connection

The Feed Pilot at ILVO (Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food) is a research and piloting facility for feed manufacturing. WEMO maintains an active relationship with the Feed Pilot for measurement research.

Nevedi

Role and connection

The Dutch association of compound feed manufacturers. WEMO participates in the sector network and stays connected to the quality and compliance developments that affect Dutch feed producers.

SecureFeed

Role and connection

Feed safety certification organisation for the Netherlands. SecureFeed manages certification frameworks relevant to feed quality management, including areas where PDI documentation plays a role.

Schothorst Feed Research (Lelystad)

Role and connection

Independent feed research organisation. One of the sector’s leading sources of knowledge on pellet quality, pelleting technology, and the link between pellet quality and animal performance.

Aeres (Barneveld)

Role and connection

Professional training centre for the feed industry, located in Barneveld. WEMO is connected to Aeres as a knowledge partner for industry training programmes.

WEMO is also in contact with Iowa State University (USA) and Tecaliman (Nantes, France) for research collaboration on PDI measurement methodology. These connections are in an early stage; formal partnership details will be published once the collaborations are formalised.
